Managers have a business opportunity to improve performance management by adopting instant management reporting for process improvements. There is a reason UPS and Federal Express took billions of dollars from the post offices from around the world. Speed and accuracy. Ask your Controller or Financial Manager how it was in the good old days when top management got monthly financials in 18-20 days after close and what their requirements are today. We think it is 3-5 days, or less. Management needs data to make better, faster decisions before crisis occurs. Top business management is required to keep the enterprise afloat, to make payroll, to make a profit, and even to make the targeted profit! Anything that is an obstacle to their performance is an enemy. Recurring process problems, crisis management, stupid mistakes, upset customers wanting fixes they don't pay for....in other words all unwanted costs subtract from the President's or CEO's goal. Establishing strategic organizational methods to avoid problems and to crush known ones is just good business. Telling management about the current health of the organization AT WILL is a great tool. What executive would ignore a known problem? Instant reporting on the health of the organization is just what is needed right now. The Society's Study Guide provides the performance management methods to set up a procedure and a tool to identify and document the things that go wrong and rolls the data up in a business management report of all the reasons they occur. [Microsoft Excel is required]. Creating Pareto charts of all the things that go wrong and comparing them to the universe of things that go wrong becomes a statistical process control tool for the effectiveness of the enterprise's processes. By the way, it's the employees on the payroll that do the reporting, not expensive consultants. Who's on staff that knows how to gather strategic data from employees for instant reporting?
